Do you wish you were more joyful? More patient? That it was easier to make big decisions?
We so often try to get through life without asking for help from the Helper himself. Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit because we need him!
Today we begin the novena of Pentecost, spiritually gathering ourselves in the Upper Room with Mary and the Apostles right after Christ has ascended into heaven. We await the Gift he promised to give.
The fruits and gifts: From the catechism
1832 The fruits of the Spirit are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory. the tradition of the Church lists twelve of them: "charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity."
At this link, there are brief reflections for each of the nine days of the novena, focused on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. The reflections draw from writings of Pope Francis and the saints, as well as Scripture.
United in prayer.
