Prayer “opens the door to God,” Benedict XVI stated at the weekly audience Dec. 14, 2011. The Pope meditated on two Gospel passages -- the healing of a deaf-mute and when the resurrection of Lazarus -- and reflected on Christ’s prayer to his father related to “his miraculous healing action.” The Pope recalled that “Jesus’ example teaches us that in our own prayers we must always trust in the Father’s will and strive to see all things in the light of his mysterious plan of love.“ He added, “Beyond anything that God may give us when we invoke Him, the greatest gift He can give us is his friendship, his presence, his love.”
